If you’ve been seeing floral-covered denim all over your feed lately, you’re not alone. Denim is having a major moment. And this time, it’s all about bold textures, statement details and a touch of handmade charm. I recently decided to take on a pair of floral denim pants inspired by a Pinterest-worthy trend, and I’m finally sharing the full transformation with you!
I kept seeing these gorgeous embellished jeans floating around and I couldn’t get them out of my head. So, I grabbed two pairs of thrifted jeans (one for the base and one for the flowers), plus a piece of quilting cotton and got to work. This DIY was definitely a labor of love. There’s a lot of hand sewing involved, but don’t let that intimidate you. If you’re into relaxing, meditative projects (like crochet or embroidery) then you’ll vibe with this one.
After teasing the process with a sneak peek of my DIY denim flowers laid out on my cutting table, I’m so excited to reveal the finished look. You can now watch the full step-by-step tutorial over on my YouTube channel (watch the full tutorial below).
Materials You’ll Need
Petal Pattern (link below)
Denim jeans (2 pairs, one for wearing, one for petals fabric)
Quilting Cotton Fabric ( 1 yard in matching color)
Thimble (optional, for hand sewing)
Thin sheet of Cardboard (see video for more details)

What to Expect
In the tutorial, I break down the process of cutting, layering, and hand-stitching the flowers onto the jeans using a simple ladder stitch. I also share helpful tips for working in stages and what to do if your flower centers (hello, fabric buttons!) aren’t cooperating.
You’ll also get a realistic look at how long a project like this can take. I worked on mine off and on over a few months, but you can definitely scale it down to something quicker, like decorating a denim jacket or skirt with just a few flowers.
Would You Try This?
Whether you’re a seasoned DIYer or just looking for a fun weekend project, this floral denim DIY is totally doable. And trust me, the final result is so worth it! If you give it a try, tag me on social or drop a flower emoji 🌸 in the comments of the video so I know you’re with me!
Until next time, keep creating and rocking your one-of-a-kind style!
