Grandpa Sweater Upcycled into Cutout Sweater Dress

A sweater dress is a must-have in everyone’s closet. They allow you to stay stylish and comfy during those cold months and can be dressed up for festive get-togethers or down for casual date nights or running errands.

In today’s video, I’ll show you how to turn a baggy oversized sweater into a cute cutout sweater dress or tunic top, that’s perfect for the holiday season. So grab all the supplies you’ll need and we’ll jump right in.

For this tutorial, you’ll need an oversized sweater that’s a suitable length for you. I used a men’s sweater in a size LG, that I picked up from my local thrift store.

Supplies You’ll Need:

Ruler

Scissors

Safety Pins

Wonder Clips

Seam Ripper

Marking Tool

Tape Measure

Matching Thread

Oversized Sweater (tunic length)

Styling a Sweater Dress

  • This sweater dress may be too short for some, but think of it as a tunic top as well. It would look fabulous when matched with tights or leggings and boots (ankle or tall) to add an extra layer of warmth.
  • Another great way to style the sweater dress is with a long cardigan, a scarf and tall boots. It’s makes a great layering piece.

This upcycle is giving business in the front and party in the back. Here’s your chance to make your clothes more versatile and fun. It’s all in the details!

This is probably the quickest and easiest upcycle This is probably the quickest and easiest upcycle I’ve ever done, and the results speak for themselves. ✂️ I whipped this up in just a couple of hours, with most of the time spent removing the turtleneck lol. No sewing machine required. Just a few snips here and there and a bit of hand sewing. 🎀 Oh, and it’s reversible too! In the video, I simply reversed the top for steps 1 & 2 😁 Full tutorial on my channel #linkinbio

I had this vintage dress and an idea to upcycle it I had this vintage dress and an idea to upcycle it by incorporating the belt buckle as a decorative accent. Coming up with the idea was the easy part. Figuring out how to make it work was another challenge. 🤦‍♀️

I actually had to sleep on it for a couple of days because I wanted the buckle to be removable. I was worried it might tarnish in the wash. 🤷‍♀️

That’s when it hit me, Why not make the dress convertible? In the end, I transformed it into a two-piece set! ✂️ It turned out to be one of my most versatile and favorite remakes so far. Check out the tutorial to see how everything came together! 💃🏻

No-sew ways to style a zipper skirt into a dress. No-sew ways to style a zipper skirt into a dress. All you need is a couple pieces of ribbon or tie straps. 👗 I didn’t experience any discomfort from the zipper but you can do this with a button front skirt as well. #styletips
