The recent heat wave got me thinking about lighter layers and practical clothing to keep me cool. It had me wishing I owned several pairs of those flowy wide-leg palazzo wrap pants.
You know the ones. You see countless videos demonstrating how to tie the wrap. It usually involves a bunch of straps that don’t seem all that secure. My issue with those videos is that none of them explain what to do when you have to go to the restroom.
In today’s video, I’m going show you another way to achieve the same look. One that’s more secure and you won’t have to think twice when going to the bathroom.
The pants I’m using I picked up from the thrift store a while back. Simply because I loved the muted pink color. I figured one day I’ll eventually turn them into something. And that day has finally arrived.
CHOOSING PANTS
An ideal pair for this project is one that:
- Has straight or wide legs
- Has an elastic waist whether full or partial
- Made from a lightweight fabric – jeans are not ideal or anything structured
- Is loose fitting – it doesn’t have to be oversized but it would help. I go into details on that in the video.
SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED:
1/2 yd Fabric or Trim (optional)
Dress Pants (oversized)

My Takeaway
What I love about this DIY is that it’s easy enough that you can do it in one evening. In just a few simple steps you can whip up your very own pair. FYI, you can do this tutorial using a pair of oversized shorts as well.
Also, I find these stylish pants to be really comfortable and flattering given the high waist and wide-leg fit. It’s perfect for any occasion. You can dress them up with a crop top and wedge heel for an effortless casual style. Or, dress them down with a graphic tee and sandals for an everyday look.
