I admit, this was the first box pleated skirt I’ve ever done. I’ve always avoided flared skirts on a whole because (in my eyes) I found them to be unflattering on me. Generally, I’d go for more subtle A-line styles. Besides, it didn’t help that I had nowhere to wear them.
When I thought of the design for this upcycle, I knew I wanted to do something high-waisted with the grommet strip. Due to the stiffness of the fabric, I decided to try my hand at a box pleated skirt and see if maybe a high-waisted version would convince me otherwise.
So yeah, a bed skirt wasn’t the only thing I picked up from the home goods department on my last thrift trip. If you saw my last tutorial, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. 🙂
Materials Used:
Invisible Zipper (10-12 in)
Bias Tape (1/2″ double fold; 1 yrd)
Fabric (med to heavyweight; I used 2.5 yds)

Did this project convince me to include more flared skirts as a part of my wardrobe? Absolutely! Now I just need to find somewhere to wear them. Do you fancy flared skirt? Let me know your thoughts below!

Tiered ruffle skirts are the embodiment of love. Your white
tiered skirt is similar to a breath of fresh air – delicate and utterly wonderful.
