Fall is here when I was just getting warmed up! Feels like it was just yesterday I was talking about sweater weather. Well, at least it’s not yet time for heavy layers.
Here I have a sweater refashion with a twist. It makes a perfect transitional piece. As a matter of fact, it’s been on my to-try-list ever since I saw it last year. When I noticed it was back this season, I took that as my queue.
You’ll Need:
Hand Needle
Oversized Sweater (lightweight, collarless, flat knit)
*I used a men’s sweater in a size Medium

The Twist Top + 2 ways to wear
Love the shoulder details & how well it ties in
Of course I HAD to try it on in reverse 😀
If you’re one of the lucky ones still experiencing warm weather, surely this tutorial can be done using lightweight knits as well.
I must admit that sewing knits without the proper tools is a nightmare! Even when you’re trying to be super careful, warping is unavoidable.
So how did I get my seams so neat?? Two word, steam pressing! I think in some way the steam sorta shrinks the knit so it bounces back into shape. Just my guess! It may not work for everyone but it’s worth a shot! Remember to always test first.
Thoughts? Let me know what you think of this sweater upcycle!

Super cute. Love it. Thanks for sharing. A bit daring for me but I’ll definitely give it a try. 🙂

Thanks Knom! It’s my pleasure. Yeah, I know what you mean. I think layering it over a tank top would remedy it. I imagine pairing it with a contrasting color to make the twist really stand out. 😀 Just a thought!
